Statement of principles:
We call for an immediate end to the genocide in Gaza and an end to the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank. All Israeli troops out of the Occupied Territories now. Tear down the Apartheid walls and the checkpoints.
We demand that our universities immediately disclose all of their ties with weapons companies and the state of Israel, cut all ties with weapons companies and the state of Israel, and commit to the call for Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions.
We stand for a free Palestine, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. And we demand the right of return for all Palestinian refugees. This means the right of return for all Palestinians expelled from their homes before, during, and after the Nakba of 1948. We reject the two state solution, which would allow a militarised Israeli state to continue to oppress the Palestinians.
We demand that our own government cut all economic, military and other ties to Israel.
Students for Palestine is anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist. The decades-long occupation and genocide in Palestine are the product of capitalism: a system based on competition and profit. National states vie with one another for influence, power, and access to territory and resources. These are the values—not democracy, peace, or justice—that motivate governments around the world. Imperialism is inherently racist, dividing the world up into supposed “national interests”.
We reject all forms of racism including islamophobia and antisemitism. Anti-imperialists must be anti-racists. Our protests take place on Aboriginal land, and we stand in solidarity with Aboriginal people in the fight for justice. We reject outright the cynical accusation of anti-Semitism levelled against pro-Palestine activists. The fight for Palestine is a fight against genocide and against racism of all forms. Many Jewish people across the world stand with Palestine and reject the equation of pro-Palestine sentiment with anti-Semitism.
We support democratic organising in the Palestine movement, including freedom of political discussion and debate.
We know we cannot rely on international institutions or governments. The oppressed masses across the world, especially the youth and the working class, must fight for Palestine. Mass protests, strikes and direct actions across the world are the only way forward.
