“You can’t be neutral on a moving train.”

— Howard Zinn

On campuses across Australia, Students for Palestine & the National Union of Students will be organising mass meetings of students to vote on the following motions: 1. Students censure the Australian government for its complicty in the genocide in Gaza. We demand an end to all weapons sales to Israel by Australia and Australian companies. and call for sanctions on Israel. 2 . Students call on all Australian universities to end their complicity with Israel's genocide by ceasing all partnerships with weapons companies. Our government and our universities have failed us and the people of Palestine. They continue to be complicit in the genocide in Gaza. We cannot be silent. We have to make our voices heard. Register your intent to vote in the National Student Referendum on Palestine on your campus here.

From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

Students for Palestine is a set of grassroots collectives on campuses across Australia. We hold student strikes for Palestine, campus-based rallies, occupations and public forums. This year, we coordinated student encampments at universities around the country for Palestine.

We organise democratically through campus collective meetings and all-in organising meetings. We are committed to fighting for a world free of war occupation and genocide.

Gaza Solidarity Encampments

We initiated and participated in Gaza solidarity encampments all over the country from April this year. We are fighting to end the complicity of our universities in genocide. Our demands on our universities are simple: Our universities must disclose all of their ties with Israel, divest from those ties, and sign on to the international Boycott Divestment & Sanctions statement.

Student Strikes

We’ve held Student Strikes for Palestine in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Wollongong and other cities. School and uni students marched out of our classrooms and took to the streets. We refuse to sit silently in our classrooms while in Gaza, people are being killed. Universities across Gaza have been razed to the ground, schools have been bombed. We believe in disruptive action and civil disobedience, and we will not rest until Palestine is free.

Reading list & resources

Our activism is informed by our understanding of the history and politics of the Palestinian struggle. Much of the mainstream media attempts to distort this history. We’ve put together a set of resources for students who want to learn about Palestine.

“We believe in the possibility of a world without war, but that belief demands action. We reject passivity, cynicism, pessimism and lethargy. We replace them with hope, determination and civil disobedience.”

— Manifesto of the Encampments
